Why must I start my shopping by first going to ShopsThatGive.com?

Starting your shopping by coming to the ShopsThatGive.com web site and then clicking on the store links to do your shopping is the only way your purchases will qualify for a donation. It also tells us which organization you want the donation to go to. Going to the storeís web site directly will not result in a donation even if you previously purchased from the store using a link at ShopsThatGive.com.

Why do I need to join ShopsThatGive.com to shop?

This is the way that the donation the merchant makes is directed to your designated organization. It also allows you to log in and immediately start shopping without going through the process of picking your organization each time. Join Now. Your privacy is protected. Can I change the organization I designate to receive the donation?

Yes. Click here to change the organization that will receive the donation. Change Organization

Does my favorite organization receive the entire percentage indicated for each merchant?

Yes, excluding the tax (if any), shipping and handling charges. Prices are not raised to pay the donation. Note that merchants occasionally change the donation percentage. The change is effective the date it is changed by the merchant even if it is not updated on ShopsThatGive.com.

How much can my organization receive?

There is no limit, each donation depends on the amount of the purchase, and the donation percentage the store offers. For example Kensington Management Company, an asset management firm, donates 20% of their annual fee. If you opened a $50,000 account, your favorite organization would receive approximately $200 annually as long as the account remained with Kensington Management Company.

How does ShopsThatGive.com pay its operating expenses?

Through advertising and commissions. Prices are not raised on the goods and services you buy.

Is there a charge for listing an organization or shop with ShopsThatGive.com?

There is no charge.

Do the goods and services cost more because of the donation to my organization?

No. You will see the same prices if you go directly to a store's web site. The only difference is that by using the store links on ShopsThatGive.com your favorite cause receives a donation.

How soon are the donations actually made?

Each merchant makes payments monthly or quarterly after a minimum amount is reached. It could take more than a few months to reach the store's minimum amount. ShopsThatGive.com mails checks of $5 or more to organizations quarterly after the payments are received from the merchants.

May I add an organization so that they can receive donations?

Yes. Click Add an Organization.

Does the organization I select to donate to need to be a charity or tax exempt?

No. Many worthwhile organizations are not tax exempt or considered charities. Any organization you name will qualify. Offensive organizations will not qualify.

If I make follow-up subsequent purchases from a merchant I found on ShopsThatGive.com, will the donations be made?

Yes as long as you link to the merchant by going to ShopsThatGive.com first.

Will an item I purchase be tax deductible if the donation goes to a tax-exempt organization?

No. Purchases and donations are not tax deductible for you.

If I return an item, will the donation be canceled?

Yes. The donation will be subtracted from the merchantís payment.
